Sehar, great timing. Mansoor and I just discovered a really great bhangra song, like, today. Okay, so it might be playing on every single TV set in Pakistan and India and might even be quite popular in the U.S., who really knows. We sure don't. But it's stuck in my head, and I want you to hear it so it'll be stuck in yours too. ;P

It's called Kawan by Bikram Singh. Excellent song! You can do bhangra to it!! Dude, when you get back, we're having a dance party.

I second Nadia's suggestion (Azher's suggestion might work, also, for dramatic effect). I suggest Jawad Ahmad's Mehndi album. I think it was already old when we played it at our wedding two years ago, but it is an upbeat and very fun desi album.

A fun song is "Ghoonghat Mein Chand" on the soundtrack to Khoobsurat.

The entrance song to our valima was "Meri Makhnaa, Meri Soniye" from Baghban.

If you want people to dance, here are a few that get people on their feet:

"Aaja Nachale" by Bally Sagoo (Star Crazy 2)
"Ah Ni Kuria" by Dr. Zeuss (Unda Da Influence)
"Sona Sona Dil Mera Sona" from the Major Saab soundtrack
"Bumbro" from the Mission Kashmir soundtrack

what about mixing in some good old rafi/lata tunes- the rents will love them and they are sugary sweet! (not really for the dancing part but more for the sitting/eating/chatting portion of the program). by the way i am sick and the bug has your name written all over it!

Hey Sehar - I left you a message on your cell phone yesterday (around 2 or 3 pm). You can ignore that message. I no longer have to ask you the question I needed to ask. But still call me when you get a chance, you know, just because. FYI: the Art Fair starts today and goes until Saturday 5pm.
